1. WORK JACKET:

The piece was inspired by qualities of air. I had the idea of stitched lines, using black duck canvas and white thread to contrast with each other. These lines would would be spread far apart and serve the purpose of symbolizing wind flow (such as in cartoons or drawings) and give the jacket some movement and dimension. I also took inspiration from quilted jackets in the almost grid-like pattern. The front lettering uses scrap fabrics and the back panel is the opposite side of a jacquard like material with a bird design; a nod to flying/air.

Fabrics and materials used for most of these pieces so far are all purposeful and thought out.  I’m either looking for the sustainability/reuse piece where I repurpose one item to become another or I try to find a visual meaning and purpose behind it. The “Fair Air” jacket’s back panel shares the same color pallet as a thermal camera and serves the purpose of identifying awareness in climate change and greenhouse gases.
